Most of my friends are of First Nations Peoples. Just the way it is. Mum is from Croydon / Herberton, Dad from Winton / Mareeba, they met in Grade 2 at Mareeba State School, and so the roots begin.
Some 30 + years ago, my beautiful sister Janis Claxton was one of the founding contributors with the Page brothers of the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Dance School – today known as ‘Bangarra‘.
Yes, our Roots are here and they will be forevermore…
Check out some of what Bama are saying…
We have, and are continuing to work with Brett with his Tourism knowledge on our projects here in Cairns. We welcome him into our office to ply his trade from here at the Cairns Indigenous Tourism Hub.
“I’ve known Brett for years and his sister was my Dance teacher. Brett has always been respectful and has always given me his time. I support him and his work. I hope you do the same”
I have know Brett for many years and his knowledge of the tourism industry and networking skills are up there with the best.
But knowing him personally his respect for Bama and Torres Strait Islanders puts him in high regard by us at Walkabout Cultural Adventures.
“Brett has always supported me in my endeavours to bring both domestic and International tourists into my business www.janbalgallery.com.au . I appreciate his assistance and sure he will help other Bama along the way.”
We’ve shared our music with Brett for Tourism projects over the years, wish him all the best with ReefTree.!
